Our Mission: Making Financial Knowledge Accessible
We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to understand and manage their finances with confidence, regardless of their starting point.
Return HomeWhy We Started Coin Fern
Coin Fern was founded in January 2023 by a group of financial educators who recognized a significant gap in the market. While there were plenty of investment seminars and wealth management services targeting high earners, there was very little accessible, judgment-free financial education designed for everyday adults who simply wanted to understand the basics.
Many capable, intelligent people reach their 40s, 50s, or 60s without having had the opportunity to learn about budgeting, retirement planning, or how different financial products work. This isn't a reflection of their abilities; it's simply that structured financial education has not been widely available or presented in an approachable way.
We created Coin Fern specifically to address this need. Our programs are designed for adults who are ready to build their financial understanding but want to learn in a supportive environment where questions are welcomed and progress happens at a comfortable pace.
Our Teaching Philosophy
We approach financial education with patience and respect. Our instructors understand that money can be an uncomfortable topic, and we work to create a space where participants feel safe asking questions without fear of judgment.
Our teaching method emphasizes practical application over theory. Rather than overwhelming students with complex financial concepts, we focus on skills that can be immediately applied to their own financial situations. Each session includes hands-on exercises and planning activities that help participants build confidence through practice.
We also recognize that financial circumstances and goals vary widely. Our programs are structured to provide solid foundational knowledge while allowing room for individual questions and personalized guidance. Whether someone is planning for retirement, managing debt, or simply trying to understand their bank statements, we meet them where they are.
Our Core Values

Our Approach to Financial Education
Financial literacy is an essential life skill, yet many adults reach middle age without having received structured education in money management. At Coin Fern, we recognize that this gap exists not because of any personal failing, but because accessible, judgment-free financial education has historically been limited.
Our educational methodology centers on creating a comfortable learning environment where participants feel safe exploring financial topics at their own pace. We understand that discussing money can feel vulnerable, particularly when someone is uncertain about their current financial knowledge. Our instructors are trained to foster a supportive atmosphere where questions are encouraged and progress is celebrated.
The curriculum across all our programs emphasizes practical application. Rather than overwhelming learners with abstract financial theory, we focus on skills that can be immediately implemented. Participants work through realistic budgeting exercises, examine actual financial statements, and develop personalized planning tools that reflect their own circumstances. This hands-on approach builds confidence through direct experience.
We also recognize that financial situations and goals vary considerably among individuals. Some participants may be concerned about retirement planning, while others want to better understand investment options or manage existing debt. Our programs are structured to provide solid foundational knowledge while allowing flexibility for individual questions and concerns. The smaller class sizes in our workshops and the one-on-one format of our mentorship program enable this personalized attention.
Teaching financial concepts to adult learners requires patience and clear communication. Our educators avoid financial jargon wherever possible, explaining terms in plain language and providing context that makes concepts more understandable. When technical terminology is necessary, we take time to ensure everyone grasps the meaning before moving forward.
Since establishing Coin Fern in January 2023, we have worked with individuals from diverse professional backgrounds and life experiences. What unites them is a desire to build financial confidence and develop skills for managing their money more effectively. We are committed to making quality financial education accessible to anyone ready to invest time in learning, regardless of their starting knowledge level.
